The Annular Eclipse

on 20 May 2012

What is an eclipse?

There are two types of eclipse. First you have the lunar eclipse which occurs when the moon passes behind the Earth and the sun's rays are completely blocked. A solar eclipse, like the one today, happens when the moon passes between the Earth and the sun. Today's eclipse was special - the last annular eclipse in America was nearly 20 years ago! Personally, this is the first one of my lifetime. We created this short video for everyone - a combination of still photos and time-lapsed video - so you can relive the moment (or live it for the first time) as many times as you desire.
